Labor News: April 26, 2013 Issue

Upcoming Projects:

Keeler was low bidder on the NY/DOT Asphalt Concrete Resurfacing Project (Monroe County)

Elderlee was low bidder on the NY/DOT Guard Rail Improvements Project (Monroe County)

Sealand was low bidder on the NY/DOT 9 Bridges Rehabilitation Project (Monroe County)

CP Ward was low bidder on the NY/DOT 1-10 Emergency Bridge Repaid Project (All Counties)

Sealand was low bidder on the NY/DOT Bridge Deck Replacements Project (Yates County)

Member News:

  • Dues:  2nd quarter dues will be dues in May. Please make sure you are up to date and send in any necessary payments to Local 435 @ 20 Fourth St. Rochester, NY 14609.
  • Nomination Meeting:  Nominations for all Local 435 elected positions will be held on Friday May 10, 2013 @ 7:00 PM SHARP in our large meeting hall at 20 Fourth Street, Rochester, NY.
  • Returning to Work: If you have returned to work please call the hall to let the office know.
  • Workers Memorial Day:  Please join the Labor Leaders, Community Members and Public Officials for the Observation Ceremony, Monday April 29th @ 5:00 PM in the Highland Park. Sponsored by the Rochester & Vicinity Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO
  • Day of Caring: Thursday May 9th, 2013. Please volunteer because we need your help! Contact Clint Dunn to put your name on the list. Local 435 always has a good turn out when it’s time to give something back to the community. Lunch and a t-shirt will be provided. We hope you'll sign up and participate in this incredible event. Family members are welcome
  • Summer Picnic: The picnic is open to all dues paying members, significant others, their dependents, and retirees. Bring your union card; You won’t get in without it. Retirees can bring one guest for free. Should any member or retiree wish to bring additional guests the price is $10 per person. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian sausage, chicken, salads, ice cream, soft drinks, and beer. We will have children’s’ games, face painting, etc., We will also have two 50/50 raffles during the afternoon as well as two other drawings one for children and one for adults. We will also have a Health fair, where you can receive your Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Blood Glucose screening.   Come out and join us for a great time!

Training and Apprenticeship:

The work season is upon us now. Please contact training @ 546-8460 to update all your certifications and notify the union Office if you have been called back to work.  

Reminders:

Baseball Tickets: Are all gone.

Out-Of-Work: To keep your name on the out-of-work list it must be updated every 14 days otherwise the computer will kick it off at the end of the 14th day.

Pictures: Please send us any pictures of projects you are working on. We would like to post them to our website or on our Facebook page. You can visit us on Facebook at Laborers Local 435.

Contact Info: Be sure that we have your current address and phone number. This will save a lot of time, and makes it easier to find you when you get the call to go to work.

Union Meeting:

Our next union meeting is Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 8 pm in the large meeting hall. We will have pizza and wings at this meeting.

Retirees will meet an hour earlier at 7 pm in the conference room. You can also find this information posted on our website.
